She is a 4 year old purebred Oberhasli and she is a great mama. Her first two freshenings she had singles and had twins this last spring. She is a great milk producer, which caused her to develop one blown teat so her babes don’t want to nurse on that side and she has to be milked on one side even when nursing babes. This didn’t seem to be an issue last spring as her twins got plenty from her good side.
We chose not to breed her this year because of the blown teat. If someone else wanted to they could and she gives probably 3/4 gallon of milk per day when in milk.
Odette needs to have a loving and patient hand, she can be sweet if enough time is spent with her, but right now our hands too full with our herd to spend as much time with her as would be best for her personality. This means that right now, most times is just plain contrary and unfriendly. She does love young children though. I’m hoping someone is looking for such a girl as this!
